Herman C. (Dan) Daniel, III

In Memoriam
Herman C. “Dan” Daniel, III grew up in Chesterfield County. He attended the University of Virginia, obtaining a B.A. in English. Dan worked for the Internal Revenue Service for four years before attending University of Richmond School of Law. Dan earned an LL.M. in Law of Taxation at William & Mary Law School.
As an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dan taught graduate level tax classes for several years at night while he built up his law practice.
For over forty years, Dan’s practice focused on business/corporate law, estate planning, probate and estate administration with a special emphasis on tax implications.
In his free time, Dan enjoyed duck and goose hunting in Canada and Argentina and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mariah Daniel
Principal Attorney
Mariah grew up in Richmond, graduating from Saint Gertrude High School. She attended the University of Virginia and then lived in London, earning a Certificate in International Business from the Mountbatten Institute of Cambridge University while working at a corporate finance law firm. After attending Charleston School of Law, Mariah became a Member of the South Carolina Bar and began her career at a private corporation in Greenville, South Carolina as In-House Counsel and Director of Legal Services. She returned to Richmond to practice law with her father, Dan. They practiced together for seven years before Dan died.
Mariah's practice focuses on estate planning including Wills and Trusts, estate and trust administration, and business law.
Mariah is an active member of the Virginia State Bar. She has served on the Board of the Metro Richmond Women's Bar Association. In her free time, Mariah enjoys live music, antiquing, and time with her family.
