WHO WE ARE
Herman C. “Dan” Daniel, III grew up in Chesterfield County. He attended the University of Virginia where he obtained a B.A. in English. Dan worked for the Internal Revenue Service for four years before attending University of Richmond School of Law to earn his Juris Doctor. Dan then attended the William & Mary Law School, where he earned an LL.M. in Law of Taxation.
As an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dan taught graduate level tax classes for several years at night while he built up his law practice.
For over 40 years, Dan’s practice has focused on business/corporate law, estate planning, probate and estate administration with a special emphasis on tax implications. He is a Member of the Virginia State Bar.
In his free time, Dan enjoys duck and goose hunting in Canada and Argentina and spending time with his grandchildren and wife, Barbara.
Dan passed away in January 2019.
Mariah grew up in the City of Richmond, graduating from Saint Gertrude High School and attending the University of Virginia where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Affairs. Following college, Mariah worked for a year in London at a boutique corporate finance law firm while studying business through the University of Cambridge, earning a Certificate in International Business from the Mountbatten Institute.
Mariah graduated from Charleston School of Law, passed the South Carolina Bar, and began her career at a private corporation in Greenville, SC as In-House Counsel and Director of Legal Services.
In 2012, Mariah returned to Richmond to practice law with her father, Dan. They practiced together for seven years before Dan passed away in January 2019.
Mariah is an active member of the Virginia State Bar. She has served in multiple Chair positions on the Board of the Metro Richmond Women's Bar Association. In her free time, Mariah enjoys practicing hot yoga, attending live music shows, and enjoying the company of her dog, Nigel, and fiance, Alan.
